Death and afterlife seem like a vague place for many, however for the religious, it's a new beginning. My work will explore the glitch between life and death through contrast between the holy religious symbols and the earthly. I would like to take references from religions that are close to my family, relationships, and cultures to express the vague and tabooed subject of death. The overlap of holy relics of the sudden moment of death, hints about the "in between moments"
I used technology as my drawing medium, because humans are living in a world where technology and studies let us understand the world better than any other time in history. However, what about the "world afterwards”? This could be the main reason why, despite this technological advancements, some of us humans still choose to bow down and worship a "man in the sky". In my concentration, I explored the unknown afterlife through the perspective of the two most popular religions in my culture (Buddhism and Christianity). I compared and contrasted religions by using cool colors (image 1,5,11) and warm (3,4,7,9) colors in my drawings. However, I used similar compositions (image 1&3,5&7) to express how they they are similar but also different, similar to reflections on a surface. Religious writings used as backgrounds are scriptures about the afterlife. My concentration does not have a conclusion, as we do not fully know what will be waiting for us in the end, however, I've started to form my perspective on it looking through the eyes of two religions.
